The U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency ranks indoor air pollution as one of top five
environmental threats to public health. Studies have shown that
pollutant levels indoors are often 2-5 times higher than those found
outdoors. Since people spend the majority of their time indoors,
the home, school or workplace are locations where exposure to indoor
contaminants is the highest concern.
Indoor air pollutants
can increase the risk of illness. In the workplace and school, increasing
health problems will result in decreasing productivity and attendance.
Sick
Building Syndrome and Building Related Illness are
terms used to describe the negative health effects and illnesses
directly related to the time spent in a building. Lawsuits directed
at building owners have become more frequent, as people realize
that there is a relationship between poor indoor air quality and
the illness it may cause.
Many contaminants that contribute
to poor indoor air quality are found in the HVAC air duct system.
The EPA stated that if not properly maintained, air duct components
may become contaminated with particles of dust or other debris.
If moisture is present, the potential for microbiological growth
is increased and mold spores may be released in the indoor environment.
Cleaning a dirty and improperly maintained HVAC system will significantly
improve indoor air quality.

Our Method
Our methods meet or exceed
EPA, OSHA, and NADCA quidelines. We use source removal techniques
for cleaning your heating and air conditioning system. Source removal
is the term used for the process of removing contaminants from the
site.
The following procedures are used to clean the air conveyance
system:
- Drop
cloths are placed to protect flooring and over furnishings,
if necessary.
- Prior
to cleaning plastic film and/or filter media is placed on supply
and/or return openings. Film will be removed prior to startup
of system.
- If
necessary supply and return networks are zoned in order to be
cleaned separately.
- A
high efficiency 3 stage HEPA collector with final stage filtration
at .03 microns (1/300 the diameter of a human hair) will be
placed at selected points throughout the HVAC System to remove
debris.
- The
areas to be cleaned will be air washed, swept with forward or
reversed air at 175 PSI (pounds of pressure per square inch)
power brushed and/or whipped to remove all visible dust and
debris.
- All
registers grilles and diffusers will be air washed with high
powered, compressed, air (175 PSI)
- All
registers, grilles and diffusers will be washed, disinfected
and sanitized with an EPA approved germicidal spray.
- All
service openings made to allow access for cleaning will be sealed
with re-usable airtight, sheet metal access panels with gaskets
screwed to ducts.
- All
2 1/2 inch openings or smaller will be sealed with airtight
knockout plugs.
- Furnace
fan will be air washed.
- Air
handling side of the furnace will be vacuumed.
- Filter
will be removed and the chamber vacuumed.
